The event started with a warm welcome from Dr. L.M. Sabri, S.T., M.T., the Head of the Department of Geodesy Engineering. He mentioned that he likes reading marketing books by Hermawan Kertajaya, which he considers his favorite reading material after the Quran and Hadith. He emphasized the importance of marketing oneself in a highly competitive and dynamic environment. He also shared his vision of the future, where competition will be between humans and machines and artificial intelligence. Dr. Sabri concluded his remarks by encouraging the students to make the most of the guest lecture, learn as much as possible, and prepare themselves for the dynamic challenges of the future.
During the event, Mr. Andi was the keynote speaker and led a workshop on personal branding. He offered helpful tips and tricks on creating an impressive CV for students, stressing the importance of presenting their experiences in a captivating manner to attract potential employers. For instance, a student on the consumables team could describe their role as a logistics assistant. At the same time, one who assisted their parents in running a small store could use the title “assistant financial and purchasing manager.” Throughout the session, Mr. Andi emphasized the significance of effective communication and engagement in CV writing.
The guest lecture event provided students with theoretical knowledge and practical experience through “imaginary” interviews with AI resembling humans, offering a unique perspective on technological advancements that could impact future job markets.
The guest lecture followed a question-and-answer session in which the speaker assessed the students’ portfolios. The Department of Geodesy Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, hopes the students will use this event to prepare for their future and succeed in the job market. They were reminded to continue creating and achieving while being students and to build a strong and attractive personal image through good personal branding.
