On May 15–16, 2025, the Department of Geodetic Engineering at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), in collaboration with PT Hidronav Tehnikatama, held a workshop titled “Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) for Measurement, Monitoring, and Water-Related Disaster Mitigation.” . The event aimed to introduce USV technology as an innovative solution for more flexible and efficient water surveying and mapping. Held in Room B.301 of the Department of Geodetic Engineering building, the workshop was attended by over 120 participants from various water- and disaster-related agencies, including Central Java BASARNAS, Central Java BPBD, BBWS Pemali Juana, Navigation District Office Type A Class II Tanjung Mas, Semarang Public Works Agency, and the Water Structure Construction Study Program at POLTEKPU.

The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., who emphasized the importance of embracing technological advancement. He illustrated this with a recent event in which a French Rafale fighter jet was defeated by a Chinese J-10 during escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. “We must be open to new technologies or risk being left behind,” he stated. Prof. Jamari also promoted UNDIP’s Master by Research program, which allows professionals and civil servants to pursue a master’s degree without leaving their current jobs. “Finish your work, earn your degree,” he said.

During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tridharma Higher Education Collaboration was signed between the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP and PT Hidronav Tehnikatama, represented by CEO Mr. Arya Pramudya, and witnessed by CHCNAV representative Mr. Raka Angga Prawira, S.T. The workshop featured a detailed presentation by Mr. Fernando Yehuda Ariyanto, S.T. from PT Hidronav Tehnikatama, who explained the various CHCNAV USV models tailored to the specific needs of each agency. The program was further enriched by a hands-on USV operation session at the Universitas Diponegoro  Educational Reservoir, providing valuable practical experience for the participants.
